Em Burano é que me apercebi que sou uma pessoa fácil de entreter.
Dêem-me uma vila integralmente pintada com cores de animação, e têm-me a rondar as casas durante horas.

Eu sei que dizem que os tons respeitam a tradição e que, antes de alguém pintar uma casa, terá de consultar a paleta de cores permitida para o seu lote, mas tenho a certeza que a saturação recebeu um grande impulso com a utilização das tintas plásticas industriais.

Pelo aspecto de alguns lotes, é fácil de deduzir que, originalmente, as casas eram bastante coloridas, mas dentro de tons mais pastel - que é o que resulta do envelhecimento das têmperas naturais. Com a passagem do tempo, a saturação baixaria uns pontos, resultando numa vila colorida, mas não tão estridente.
Com as tintas plásticas, a cor escolhida de início é mais persistente, e conserva a saturação das primeiras demãos sem se desgastar com o tempo.

Claro que, em Burano, tudo acaba por resultar bem, mas é um bom exemplo de como a escolha de uma cor depende de muito mais que um catálogo.
É preciso prever (ou adivinhar) como é que vai envelhecer de acordo com a cor, tipo de tinta e acabamento escolhidos.
Escolher cores não é para os fracos de coração.

In Burano, I realized that I'm an easy person to entertain.
Just give me a small town painted with cartoon colours, and I'll just wander for hours.

I know they say the colours respect the tradition, and that before anybody paints a house they have to check the palette, but I'm sure the overall saturation got a big boost from the use of industrial paints.

From the look of some houses, I think that, originally, they were very coloured, but in more of pastel tones, that is what comes from the ageing of natural handmade paints. The village would be coloured, but not as strongly.
Using industrial paints, the chosen colour will stay for a very long time, keeping the saturation from the first coats.

Of course, in Burano everything works out well, but this a good example on how choosing colours is much more than picking from a catalogue.
You'll need to predict (or guess) how it is going to age according with the colour, finishing and type of paint.
Choosing colours is not for the faint of heart.

Sempre tive dificuldade em decidir ir a Veneza por saber que é praticamente o destino mais popular do mundo. Daí, na escolha entre alegremente evitar hordas de turistas ou nunca a ver, optei por uma ida rápida com multi-paragens.

Na verdade, o que altera a cidade não é a quantidade de visitantes por m2, mas sim os negócios que cresceram em torno do movimento, e que trataram de desfigurar as zonas mais frequentadas.

No entanto, a minha conclusão é que Veneza é bonita nos bairros certos e especialmente entre as 18h e as primeiras horas da manhã.
Se consegui disfrutar dela, apesar de uma situação que costuma ser um grande impedimento para mim, é porque vale mesmo a pena.

I've always postponed a trip to Venice because I knew it is one of the most touristic places in the world. So between avoiding the packs of tourists and never seeing it at all, I went for a quick stay with more than one stop.

To be fair, what hurts that city isn't so much the number of visitants, but more all the businesses that grew around the movement and that completely changed, for worse, the most popular areas of the city.

In the end, my conclusion is that Venice is very enjoyable in the right neighbourhoods and specially between 18h and the first hours in the morning.
If I was able to enjoy it, in spite of the whole touristic situation which is a major turn-off to me, then it is really worth it.

Today I'll be leaving for a small trip, that I've been longing for too long.
Thank you to everyone who left their opinion on this post. I decided to take my film camera, to have fun, and the small Canon Ixus because I don't think I can live without the immediacy of the digital world.

Ando bastante todos os dias, e isso limita frequentemente a escolha do meu calçado diário. Na maior parte das vezes, uso sapatilhas, que são sempre escolhidas com muito cuidado e usadas repetidamente até à sua morte, por um qualquer dano irreparável. Há quem tenha estantes cheias de bonitos sapatos quase intocados, eu tenho um cemitério de sapatilhas.

Também gosto de sabrinas e, este par especificamente, é o meu favorito. Encontrei-as por acaso numa loja em Tomar, o ano passado. Experimentei-as, comprei-as, mas só depois de chegar a casa é que fui verificar de onde vinha a Made in Space, para descobrir que vêm de Vila Nova de Gaia (ainda não aferi se são realmente produzidas em Portugal), mesmo ao lado do sítio onde vivi muitos anos.
Depois de testadas durante um ano, posso garantir que a palmilha é excelente e a ideia da sola que troca de capa recorrendo a um fecho, também. Fico contente por serem portuguesas, mas gostava que tivessem mais divulgação e mais modelos também.

P.S. A propósito de sapatos portugueses, para quem não sabe, os sapatos da FLY LONDON, uma marca também muito conhecida, é das mais portuguesas que há. Os sapatos são fabricados em Guimarães - desta marca tenho a certeza, já que sou visitante habitual da loja de fábrica.

I walk a lot everyday and that really narrows down the kind of shoes I can wear. Most of the time, I wear sneakers, that I always choose very carefully and wear until they die after simply falling apart from intensive use. Some people have closets of barely worn shoes, I have a closet I like to call "the sneakers graveyard".

I also like flat shoes and this specific pair is my favourite. I found them by accident in a shop in Tomar, last year. I tried them on, bought them, but only after I came home I was able to find out that they came from Vila Nova de Gaia (I'm not sure if they are really made in Portugal, yet), right next to place I lived in, for many years.
After wearing them for a year, I can guarantee that the sole is amazingly comfortable and the zipping top is a great idea. I'm really happy that Made in Space is portuguese, but I wish they had more publicity and more models, as well.
